The Sangrur district in general is rural region in the southern part of the State. Situated west of Patiala, it is virtually isolated from urban center of the State. The most populous town from the district is Malerkotla.

The district can hardly boast of any place of tourist interest, although there are a few places of some historical or religious importance. The people by and large are God fearing and have maintained guru-dwaras and mandirs of historical importance. Given in the following pages are the places/villages, which according to local sources are known to have some historical, religious or even superstitious importance. Apart from these places, there are a few others which are developing as agricultural, marketing, industrial or trading nucleus of the district.
